Founded in 1979, Million Advertising & Silk Screen Pte Ltd was started by Mr Chong Yuke Wan and Madam Hong Ah May in a humble workshop located at 21 Cuff Road. The two founders, with the determination to utilise their silk printing artistry while upholding the belief in conducting business in an honest and graceful manner, named the company using the Chinese characters, “Mei Ran”, which later evolved into the homophonic translation of “Million” and became the precursor to the brand name, Million Advertising & Silk Screen Pte Ltd (Million Advertising) that we know today.

For the next few decades after the business had been set up, Million Advertising grew and evolved to become one of the leading high-mix, low-volume (HMLV) manufacturing and precision identification specialists in project customisations for multinationals and SMEs.

However, to maintain a leading industry standard in quality and reliability meant that growth was inevitable and difficult; despite the business’s finesse in the manufacturing sector, achieving scalable and sustainable growth lies outside of the company’s expertise, and this later proved to be one of the company’s core challenges.

Potential Opportunities in Malaysia

Back in 2025, a market-entry opportunity into Malaysia presented itself to the brand. Yet, the lack of operational frameworks and knowledge in business nuances in the country left the company little to no confidence in moving forward and executing an efficient and compliant market penetration with minimal risks.

Without an established and structured expansion model to tap into regional markets, the business will become geographically constrained and limited in its long-term growth potential and competitiveness.

This was the main challenge that the managing director, Mr KC Chang, faced before he came across the business advisory services offered by SME Centre@SICCI’s business advisor, Mr Clive Ho.

Empowering Growth Plans into Reality

From the first point of contact to the planning and later execution of Million Advertising’s internationalisation project into Malaysia, Clive was actively supporting the business with targeted assistance at critical junctures of its scaling plans and growth blueprint. He bridged a connection for the company to a credible and specialised Malaysian incorporation and regulatory setup firm and helped to minimise the risks in Million Advertising’s expansion process. His impact on the business was direct and transformative.

Eventually, the company successfully established the entity, Million Marks Sdn Bhd in Malaysia, and the successful market entry became a tangible proof-of-concept for the business’s growth blueprint while validating the replication of the company’s business model overseas through controlled risk and investment.

Million Advertising later went on to receive further support and assistance from Enterprise Singapore for their enterprise resource planning (ERP) and artificial intelligence digitisation grants. Achievements from these projects include:

  1. Visit from Mr Dusty Alexander, CEO of Global Shop Solutions, Mr Mike Melzer, Vice President of Operations, and Mr Sachin Hridayraj, Co-Founder of iNextLabs, to learn about Million Advertising’s digital ERP platform.
  2. Recognised as one of the winners for the Singapore Business Review Technology Excellence Awards 2026.
  3. Recognised as one of the winners for the Entrepreneur Asia 2026 Award for Technology Excellence.
  4. Recognised as one of the winners for the Global Recognition Awards 2026.
  5. Recognised as one of the winners for the Asia Pacific Stevie Award 2026, which celebrates excellence and innovation in technology.
