A Century of Heritage and Diversification and Regional Ambition
Established in 1927, Teck Huat & Company Private Limited (Teck Huat) is a third-generation Singapore family business with close to a century of experience in trading and distribution. From its humble beginnings as a provision shop, the company has grown into a regional distributor of wines, spirits and premium food products, serving more than 1,200 distribution touchpoints and managing a diverse portfolio of over 300 product SKUs.
Today, Teck Huat has diversified beyond its traditional trading roots, with business interests spanning wine distribution, hospitality, gems and yacht chartering. The company operates across Singapore and Myanmar, supported by regional facilities and capabilities in Malaysia, Thailand and China. Its competitive strengths include an established distribution network, licensed import capabilities, temperature-controlled warehousing, regional logistics infrastructure, and long-standing relationships with suppliers and customers.
Building on its strong heritage and market knowledge, Teck Huat is focused on strengthening its regional distribution platform, expanding into new markets and customer segments, and enhancing operational efficiency through digitalisation, technology and integrated supply-chain management. The company aims to combine its nearly century-long industry experience with a modern, scalable and technology-enabled approach to regional growth.
Scaling Their Business Beyond the Shores
As an established distribution company, Teck Huat recognises that its next phase of growth could not rely solely on its existing markets. The company wanted to expand its regional footprint, develop new overseas customer segments and build a more scalable distribution platform across Asia.
The key challenge was identifying suitable markets, understanding different market-entry requirements and developing the right partnerships and distribution channels while continuing to strengthen its existing business in Singapore and Myanmar.

Strengthening Regional Growth Through Structured Internationalisation Support
Through business advisory support provided by the SME Centre@SICCI, Senior Business Advisor, Michell Ling worked closely with Teck Huat to better understand its business objectives and internationalisation plans. Through follow-up discussions and targeted inputs, Teck Huat gained greater clarity on its regional expansion strategy and identified opportunities to diversify into new markets.
Michell encouraged Teck Huat to adopt a more structured approach to market expansion, partnership development and operational scalability. This enabled the company to assess market opportunities better, strengthen its regional network and prepare its operations for sustainable growth.
With her guidance, the company has since strengthened its regional distribution capabilities and expanded its business activities beyond its traditional markets, gaining greater exposure in markets such as Hong Kong and Malaysia. The company has also developed supporting logistics and distribution capabilities to serve customers across the region better. As a result of this regional expansion, Teck Huat’s annual revenue grew from S$8.72 million to S$10.16 million, an increase of about 16.5% in just one year.
Moving forward, Teck Huat plans to continue expanding its regional customer base, introduce its product portfolio to new markets, and build a more integrated and technology-enabled distribution network to support its continued international growth.
