The SME Centre@SICCI Appreciation & Networking Evening 2024 is to provide business decision makers with practical insights and strategies to manoeuvre and thrive in an ever-changing global business environment shaped by challenges, including the rising cost of inflation, geo-political tensions, and high financial cost. Additionally, this event is organised to appreciate and bring together small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and partners who play a crucial role in driving economic growth and innovation.

The event will include a seminar featuring presentations from industry experts on topics related to business resilience and digital transformation. Following the seminar, attendees will have the opportunity to connect and network with each other during a networking dinner.

Speakers’ Profiles:

Mdm Intan Nadia Jalil, Regional Head, Group Economic and Market Analysis (CIMB Bank Berhad)

Intan Nadia Jalil is the Regional Head, Group Economic and Market Analysis for CIMB Bank Berhad. Her previous appointments include the CEO of the PNB Research Institute, Associate Director of Economics at the Malaysian Aviation Commission, and Deputy Director of Research at Khazanah Research Institute. Nadia has more than 20 years’ experience in undertaking policy advisory and research work in Malaysia and Southeast Asia focusing on macroeconomics, international trade, growth and development strategies and economic regulation, including a term as Malaysian economist for the World Bank.

Nadia holds an MSc in Regional and Urban Planning Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and graduated from Selwyn College, University of Cambridge with a BA in Economics.

Mr Albert Liew, Managing Director, Singapore & Indochina (BIPO Service (Singapore) Pte Ltd)

Albert Liew is a distinguished business leader recognised for his achievements in driving commercial growth and managing high-performing teams. Since joining BIPO in 2017 as a pioneer team member in Southeast Asia, he has played a key role in the company’s global expansion.

As the Managing Director for Singapore and Indochina, Albert leads its business operations, directing sales, channel partners, and full-service implementation teams. His efforts in fostering strategic partnerships and alliances have been instrumental in the company’s growth.

Albert holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. In his pursuit of continuous growth, Albert is currently enrolled in the Tsinghua-INSEAD Executive MBA (TIEMBA) program as a distinguished member of the Class of ’25.

His proactive and collaborative leadership style emphasises team empowerment, talent development, and diversity awareness, contributing to BIPO’s sustained success.

Prof Lawrence Loh, Director, Centre for Governance and Sustainability, NUS Business School (National University of Singapore)

Prof Lawrence Loh is Director, Centre for Governance and Sustainability (CGS) at NUS Business School, National University of Singapore where he is Professor in Practice of Strategy and Policy. He is Visiting Professor at Wealth Management Institute in Singapore.

In the specific domain of Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) relevant for strategic management and sustainable finance, Prof Loh has extensive professional engagements in the global and regional arenas. He directs the CGS initiative that is commissioned by the Singapore Exchange to conduct sustainability assessments of all listed companies on the Exchange. He also heads the ASEAN sustainability reporting initiative covering 6 countries in collaboration with ASEAN CSR Network and steered the Asia-Pacific sustainability reporting assessment covering 13 jurisdictions with PwC. Prof Loh was a lead investigator on a study in sustainable banking for all listed banks in ASEAN in collaboration with WWF. He spearheads a new study on climate reporting in ASEAN companies in partnership with GRI.

Prof Loh was lead consultant for technology and innovation manpower studies commissioned by the Singapore government. He was chief facilitator for Singapore’s National Technology Plan and served on the Think Tank for Science and Technology. Prof Loh consulted for Fortune 500 companies and international organisations in technology policy. He has been active in advising entrepreneurial start-ups in strategic advancement.
